Intersolar Middle East is organising an exciting competition encouraging students to showcase their views on sustainability and retro fitting by the means of the competition. This unique platform is a perfect opportunity for every candidate to showcase their skills and advance in their career.

The UAE is strategically located to take advantage of a rapid increase in demand for renewable power and clean technology. Clean technology innovation and international collaboration is earning the UAE a reputation as a leading clean energy innovation hub as the world looks – once again – to the region to help drive the next global energy revolution.

The projects involves choosing a government building and achieve at least 25% reduction in the energy consumed by the building by using different techniques and retrofitting renewable components for better efficiency. Let's all get involved in encouraging our youth to be the future leaders of the world. 

The Challenge

Choose a building in your country of residence:

  • It must have been constructed before the year 2000
  • Either a government building or your university building

Criteria is divided into the following point system:

  • 30 points - Energy enhancement comparison
  • 20 points - Use of solar components
  • 20 points - Innovation / Use of technologies
  • 20 points - Overall methodology & presentation
  • 10 points - Financial analysis / Feasibility study

Get Bonus Points! (Optional)

  • 5 points - Presenting a prototype
  • 3 points - Video presentation
  • 2 points - PowerPoint presentation 


Submission Requirement

  • All entries to be submitted online by 31 July 
  • A scanned copy of your university identification card
  • Submit the following information about the project:
    • Drawing, Elevations, Plans in A-3 Size (Max. 5 Nos.)
    • A write-up on the project in A-4 size paper (2,000 words)
    • One page Bio & picture of each participant
    • Presentation detailing salient features of the project
    • Only 1 project can be submitted per entry form
    • Entry attachments shouldn’t exceed 2 MB
